The short answer
We travel about 17 miles north from Pompano Beach to install and repair wallpaper in Ocean Ridge. Work is timed around seasonal occupancy, and materials are chosen for homes that may sit closed through humid summers near the ocean.
Ocean Ridge is a small coastal town in Palm Beach County, about 17 miles north of our Pompano Beach shop. Plenty of homes here are lived in only part of the year, closed up through the summer and reopened when the weather turns. A house that sits quiet for months in South Florida is a hard environment for wallcoverings, and a lot of what we do in Ocean Ridge is helping owners pick materials and timing that suit that pattern of use.
When a house sits empty through the wet season
Summers on this coast are hot and wet, with near-daily storms from May into October. If the air conditioning is set too high while owners are away, or a dehumidifier fails, moisture builds inside the walls and in the paper itself. The first warning signs are a musty smell, seams that open slightly, or faint spotting near baseboards and behind furniture pressed against exterior walls.
We talk with owners about how the house is managed while they are gone. A steady thermostat setting, working humidity control and someone checking in after storms make a bigger difference to a wallcovering's lifespan than almost any product choice.
- Keep air conditioning running at a moderate setting when the house is closed
- Leave a gap between large furniture and exterior walls so air can move
- Ask a caretaker to look for lifted seams or odors after major storms
- Choose breathable or vinyl products based on how the room is used
Planning work around your arrival
Many Ocean Ridge clients want rooms finished before they return for the winter. That usually means booking in late summer or early fall, during hurricane season, which runs until November 30. We build some slack into those schedules. If a storm forces a delay, the work shifts a week or two rather than leaving rooms half-done under shutters.
For owners who are still out of town, we coordinate access with a property manager or caretaker, confirm the AC has been running for at least a day before we start, and send photos when each room is done.
Materials that suit an oceanfront town
Salt air and humidity are hard on unsealed natural fibers and fragile hand-printed papers, particularly in rooms with doors to a patio or pool deck. In those spaces we often recommend vinyl or non-woven wallcoverings, which tolerate moisture and wipe clean. Grasscloth, silk-look and other textured papers can still work in bedrooms, closets and libraries kept closed and conditioned.
Ceiling wallpaper deserves a specific note: warm, moist air rises, and ceilings in rooms near the water see more condensation than walls. We prime ceilings carefully and use adhesive rated for the conditions.
Services available in Ocean Ridge
We bring the full range of our work north. That includes wallpaper installation and removal, accent walls and murals, grasscloth and peel and stick, vinyl wallcovering, ceiling papers and wall preparation and repair. For condominium buildings and clubhouses, we also install commercial wallcovering in lobbies, elevator landings and corridors. Prep matters on the coast, so expect us to look closely for moisture, cracks and old adhesive before quoting any job.
Refreshing rooms between seasons
Some owners use the months away as a chance to change a room completely. Others simply want a tired guest bath or a sun-faded hallway brought back before family arrives for the holidays. Either way, the quieter house makes the job easier: furniture can be moved without working around daily life, and adhesive can cure without traffic in and out of the room.
If older paper has started to lift or stain, we assess whether a section can be reglued or patched with spare rolls, or whether the whole wall should be stripped and redone. Patching is only worthwhile when the original paper is sound and matching stock is available. When a covering has trapped moisture, removal and a full prep of the wall underneath is the honest recommendation, and we will show you what we found behind it.
The coastal route we cover
Trips to Ocean Ridge take us through Highland Beach and Boca Raton, and we also serve Deerfield Beach, Hillsboro Beach and Lighthouse Point closer to home. If your building or a neighbor's has similar work planned, we can combine visits on the same day. Grouping trips along the coast also tends to open up more scheduling options during the busy fall stretch before seasonal residents return.
